CSW Resilience Team School Newsletter

For example, in January 2022, the CSW Resilience team responded to a siege in Earlsdon (a high-profile armed police incident), which resulted in three streets being put under a cordon. This incident had the direct impact of causing a school to close as it was within the cordon.

We offer a simple yet effective process of managing the risks which your school might face. We guide you towards the DfE resources (a suite of documents released in November 2019 to assist schools with planning for emergencies and business continuity issues). Additionally, the CSW Resilience team have developed various resources to compliment the DfE resources, as well as having a designated school emergency planning lead. Identifying and putting in place arrangements to mitigate potential disruptions is the responsibility of the school but CSW Resilience can support in providing advice or signposting to guidance. I am available able to answer any queries about the development of your emergency planning arrangements or any other questions you might have.

Resilience during critical incidents

Who might you contact if there were an emergency in your school? Within this document, there are suggested contact which would be useful in many scenarios, including during a critical incident. We advise you print this and display this visible in whichever room you are likely to make calls from in the case of an emergency.

Finally, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I joined the CSW Resilience team in June 2022. I aspire to support schools with the creation of the relevant plans to ensure they are prepared and resilient for those unlikely events which might occur. As the designated schools lead within our team, I am available to answer enquiries and to provide localised guidance.

Working alongside our school partners, I have the opportunity to reflect on what we currently offer to schools, and I am open to suggestions on how we can shape the current packaged provided to best suit the needs of the schools using it.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope you have a safe and happy new year. Please do not hesitate to contact me regarding your school’s emergency planning arrangements.

Kind Regards,

Morgan
